Unite'm enhances regular pE activities by adding team-based tasks

Design project

The challenge

Some students struggle with sports or games during Physical Education (PE), which can result in negative attitudes towards physical activity from a young age.

PLayer types

Unite'm is a dodgeball game that includes a pillar and bracelets. The pillar outlines rules and game mechanics, while bracelets add dynamic elements and different player types. It provides a challenging experience by allowing students to play defensively or offensively.

Game modes

Unite'm's RFID technology adds an extra layer of tactics to the game, allowing for game modes where players need to defend specific team members by keeping their bracelet on their pillar. Teachers can easily manage teams, change rules, and promote certain playing styles with just a push of a button.

Process

During the design process, my team and I focused on the physical interaction and game dynamics. We tested initial concepts with fellow students and later evaluated the final prototype with secondary school students.
Results showed that the system encouraged collaboration and asking for help, and also fostered diverse playing styles.
