Unite'm enhances regular pE activities by adding team-based tasks

Design project

The challenge

Some students find sports and games in PE challenging, which can lead to negative feelings about physical activity from an early age.

PLayer types

Unite'm is a dodgeball-style game with a pillar for rules and mechanics, and bracelets that creates the opportunity to have different player roles. It challenges students to play offensively and/or defensively.

Game modes

Unite'm uses RFID technology to add tactical depth. Players can protect teammates by keeping their bracelet on their pillar, and teachers can adjust teams, rules, and play styles at the push of a button.

Process

During development, we focused on physical interaction and game dynamics. We tested early concepts with fellow students and the final prototype with secondary school students. The results showed it encouraged collaboration, help-seeking, and diverse play styles.
