In a world where people capture and share countless pictures every day, it can be challenging to distinguish the truly valuable ones. That's why we created KIOKU, a shape-changing interface that uses AI-filtering to highlight the most meaningful pictures. With KIOKU, you can easily relive your cherished memories in a more engaging and immersive way.
KIOKU is an innovative shape-changing interface that uses advanced algorithms to present your photos as meaningful reminders. By analyzing upcoming calendar events, current day, and weather, KIOKU determines which photos are most relevant at a given time. For example, you might be reminded of your summer holiday during the winter or of a concert you attended that is similar to the one you will be going to next week.
KIOKU's breathing pattern indicates a reminder is ready to view. A stroke of the shape-changing interface activates the system, presenting pictures and allowing you to relive your captured moments. The interface offers the ability to rate reminders with a stroke for 'like' or 'dislike' options. The algorithm improves based on your ratings and presents new memories tailored to your preferences, resulting in a more meaningful interaction. KIOKU adapts to you, making it a personalized experience.
During the design process of KIOKU, my team and I extensively explored various materials, electronics, and interactions. To ensure a positive user experience, we conducted a final user test, which resulted in highly positive feedback. Users found the reminders to be accurate and praised the physical interactions of the system. This successful proof-of-concept demonstrates the effectiveness of our design and its potential to become a valuable tool for reliving cherished memories.
