The challenge
In a world flooded with pictures, it’s hard to spot the truly valuable ones. KIOKU is a shape-changing interface with AI filtering that highlights your most meaningful photos, letting you relive cherished memories in an engaging, immersive way.
KIOKU is a shape-changing interface that uses advanced algorithms to present photos as meaningful reminders. By analysing calendar events, the current day, and weather, it shows the most relevant images—like recalling a summer holiday in winter or a past concert before an upcoming similar event.

The interface
KIOKU signals a reminder with a gentle breathing pattern. A stroke on the interface activates it, showing pictures to relive your moments. You can ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ reminders with a swipe, helping the algorithm refine its selections for a more personalised, meaningful experience.
Process
During KIOKU’s design process, we explored various materials, electronics, and interactions. A final user test received highly positive feedback, with users praising the reminder accuracy and physical interactions. This proof-of-concept shows its potential as a valuable tool for reliving cherished memories.
